The booth now fits on a tablet

Until now, running AI PhotoBooth at an event meant a Windows machine: a laptop or mini PC, a display, a webcam, a stand and a bag of cables. That is the right setup for a large activation with a DSLR and a printer working through a queue. It is too much for a wedding cocktail hour, a pop-up store or a three by three metre trade show stand.

AIPhotobooth Pro is our native tablet app. It runs on Android tablets and on iPad, uses the tablet’s built-in camera, and connects to the same account, the same web dashboard and the same photobooth configurations as the Windows kiosk app. You configure a photobooth once in the dashboard, then run it on a tablet, on a Windows station, or on both at the same event.

The Android release is rolling out on Google Play now. The iPad version is in TestFlight and coming soon to the App Store.

What AIPhotobooth Pro is

AIPhotobooth Pro is the AI PhotoBooth platform in a tablet-sized package, not a lighter version of it. The account you already have, the photobooths you already built, the prompts, templates, catalogs and delivery settings you already tuned: all of it shows up in the app the moment you sign in. If you have read our earlier guide to iPad and tablet photo booths, this is the app that guide was waiting for.

Because everything is managed in the web dashboard, an operator can mix devices freely. A trade show setup might put a Windows kiosk with a DSLR at the main stand and two tablets on stands at the entrance. All three feed the same gallery, the same leaderboard and the same lead capture.

What runs on the tablet

The full set of AI photo modes runs on the tablet: live edit, face swap, style transfer and product placement. So does virtual try-on, and so do the two real-time video modes, live video restyle and live video try-on, which turn the tablet screen into an AI mirror. Snap AR lenses and the Living Fresco painting canvas are there as well.

Delivery works the way it does on Windows. Guests get a QR code that opens their delivery page with email and social sharing, and the booth can print if a printer is configured. Fast Track QR lets guests scan a code and finish the whole flow on their own phone, which is the fastest way to clear a queue in front of a single tablet.

Hardware and setup in three steps

You need an Android tablet running Android 7.0 or newer, or an iPad on iPadOS 16.4 or newer, plus a stable internet connection. The app uses the tablet’s built-in camera or a Canon camera over Wi-Fi (Camera Control API); there is no external webcam support on tablets. Add a stand at guest height and, if you want prints, a compatible printer on the same network.

Install the app. Get AIPhotobooth Pro from Google Play. On iPad, the App Store release is coming soon.
Sign in. Use the email and password of your AI PhotoBooth account, sign in with Google, or enter a device token generated in the dashboard so that staff never see your credentials.
Pick the photobooth. Choose one of your saved photobooths, lock the operator menu behind its PIN, and hand the tablet to the first guest.

Setup takes a few minutes, and the same three steps work on every tablet you add to the event.

Tablet or Windows kiosk?

Both apps run the same platform, so the choice is about the venue, not the features.

Choose the tablet for weddings, small venues, pop-up retail and compact trade show stands, where a tablet on a stand is the whole booth. It is cheaper hardware, runs on battery for hours, and travels in a backpack.
Choose the Windows kiosk when you need a Nikon camera, a DSLR over USB or an external 4K webcam, gesture control on a large display, or printers handling hundreds of prints a day. It remains the workhorse for big activations. It is on the Microsoft Store.
Choose both when one event has a main stage and side spots. Same account, same gallery, one dashboard.

Pricing

AIPhotobooth Pro is free to install. There is nothing to pay for the app itself, on Android or on iPad. Plans and credits are the same as for the Windows kiosk, bought on the website, and a credit spent from a tablet costs exactly what it costs from a Windows station. FAQ

Which tablets does AIPhotobooth Pro support?

Any Android tablet running Android 7.0 or newer, and any iPad on iPadOS 16.4 or newer. The app uses the built-in camera, so a recent tablet with a good front camera gives the best results. A Canon camera can also be used over Wi-Fi (Camera Control API).

Can I use the same account on a tablet and on a Windows kiosk?

Yes. It is one account, one web dashboard and one set of photobooth configurations. You can run tablets and Windows stations side by side at the same event, and they all feed the same gallery and analytics.

Does the tablet app support printing?

Yes. Configure a compatible printer for the photobooth and guests can print from the tablet the same way they do from a Windows kiosk. For high-volume printing at large events, a Windows station with a dedicated event printer is still the better choice.

Is the app free?

Yes, the app is free to install. Plans and credits are purchased on the website and shared with your Windows kiosks, so there is nothing extra to buy for the tablet.
