Real-Time AI Video Booth: Live Restyle and Video Try-On, as It Happens
The booth screen is no longer a preview. It is the show.
Every photo booth until now has worked the same way: capture first, magic second. The guest poses, the AI transforms the shot, and a few seconds later the result appears. Even AI video booths that turn photos into short clips keep that order – the video arrives after the moment, not during it.
Real-time AI video flips that order. The camera feed itself is transformed, live, while the guest is standing in front of the booth. They raise a hand – their anime double raises a hand. They spin – the oil-painting version of them spins. There is no capture button between them and the effect, because the effect is the camera.
We are bringing two real-time video modes to AI PhotoBooth, and as of July 2026 no other photo booth platform on the market offers either one.
Mode 1: Real-time video restyle
Real-time video restyle applies an AI style to the live camera stream continuously. The guest does not take a photo and wait – they simply see themselves, restyled, moving in real time on the booth screen.
The styles come from switchable style templates: the same template system operators already use for photo generation, now driving live video. A single event can rotate through a comic-book look, a marble-statue look, a cyberpunk look, or a fully custom style built for the sponsor’s brand. Switching templates changes the entire scene live, in front of the guest.
What this does to a booth’s role at an event is hard to overstate:
- The screen becomes a crowd magnet on its own. A live mirror that shows people as paintings draws a queue before anyone explains what the booth does. Nobody walks past a screen where they are already the main character.
- Every second is content. With photo-first booths, the shareable moment is one frame. With live restyle, the entire interaction is watchable – and recordable as a clip for social media.
- Sponsors get a live branded experience, not just an output. A branded style template running in real time is closer to an art installation than a vending machine for photos – exactly what brand activations pay for.
Mode 2: Real-time video virtual try-on at 720p
Virtual try-on has been one of our signature features: guests see themselves wearing items from a clothing catalog without touching a fitting room. Until now, that worked photo by photo.
Real-time video try-on runs the same idea on live video at 720p. The guest stands in front of the booth, picks an outfit from the catalog, and sees themselves wearing it – moving, turning, checking the fit from different angles, the way people actually evaluate clothes in a mirror.
For retail and fashion use cases this is the difference between a demo and a tool:
- Retail stores can run a smart mirror that cycles a new collection on every shopper who walks up – see our guide to AI photo booths in retail.
- Fashion brands at events can put an entire lookbook on guests’ bodies in seconds per outfit, instead of minutes per changing-room visit.
- Sponsors can dress every guest at a gala in the collection they are launching – and deliver the photo as a takeaway afterward.
The 720p stream is sharp enough for a large kiosk screen, and the standard flow still applies: guests can capture a frame of the try-on and get it delivered by QR code, email, or the event gallery.
Why “real time” is a hard technical line
It is worth being clear about what separates real-time video from the “AI video” features that exist elsewhere in the market, because the two get blurred in marketing copy.
AI video animation (which we also offer) takes a generated photo and renders a short clip from it, asynchronously, over tens of seconds. The guest gets the video later, by email or on their share page. It is a delivery format.
Real-time AI video transforms a live camera stream with latency low enough that the guest perceives it as a mirror. There is no render queue and no waiting – which means the model has to produce frames continuously, not one image per request. That constraint is why, as of July 2026, none of the platforms we track in our full comparison – including the ones that advertise AI video – offer real-time video restyle or real-time video try-on. Post-processed clips, yes. A live AI mirror, no.
What it means for operators
If you run a photo booth business, real-time video changes the pitch you can make to clients:
- A new tier of experience to sell. “AI photos” is now table stakes at premium events. “Guests see themselves transformed live on screen” is a line no competitor pitching Snappic, LumaBooth, or Activation King can match today.
- Same hardware philosophy. Our platform has always run on ordinary hardware – a kiosk with a webcam and a good internet connection. Check the internet checklist before an event as usual; live video is naturally more demanding on bandwidth than stills.
- Same credit-based pricing model. No subscription is required to keep the capability in your toolkit – you pay for what events actually consume. That is the same transparent pricing logic as the rest of the platform.
Real-time features are rolling out at the top of our plan range first – virtual try-on has always been an Enterprise feature, and real-time video try-on follows it. Talk to us via the contact page if you want it for a specific event.
FAQ
What is a real-time AI video booth?
A photo booth where the AI transforms the live camera video itself, instead of (or in addition to) transforming captured photos. Guests see themselves restyled or dressed in virtual outfits live on the booth screen, like an AI mirror.
What is real-time video restyle?
A mode where a style template – anime, oil painting, a custom branded style – is applied continuously to the live camera feed. The operator can switch style templates during the event, changing the look live.
What resolution does real-time video try-on run at?
Real-time virtual try-on runs on live video at 720p, sharp enough for large kiosk screens, with the usual capture-and-deliver flow available on top.
Is this the same as AI video animation?
No. AI video animation renders a clip from a generated photo after the fact and delivers it by email. Real-time AI video transforms the camera stream live, with no waiting. AI PhotoBooth offers both.
Do competitors offer real-time AI video?
As of July 2026, no other platform in our comparison – Snappic, LumaBooth, Snapbar, Activation King, Simple Booth – offers real-time video restyle or real-time video try-on. Some offer post-processed AI video clips, which is a different capability.
The still photo made booths shareable. The rendered clip made them viral. The live AI mirror makes the booth itself the experience – and right now, there is exactly one platform where you can book it.
