Photo Booth Software in New Zealand (2026): Hire Prices, AI Add-Ons and What the Software Costs

New Zealand is a small market with a lot of weddings per operator. Most booth companies in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch sell the same package: a booth, unlimited prints, a box of props and an attendant for three hours. The price band is narrow and every competitor is one Google search away. The one thing a client cannot get from the next operator is the AI photo: the guest picks a style and walks away as an astronaut, a 1920s portrait or a comic book cover.
This post covers what NZ operators charge today, what an AI add-on earns per event, and what the software behind it costs once you convert to dollars and sort out GST.

Three hours is the usual wedding booking. Unlimited prints, props and an attendant are in almost every package, so nobody wins a quote on those any more. What moves the price is hours, travel outside the main centres, a custom print design and, increasingly, whether the booth does AI photos at all.
The AI add-on: what 100 photos cost and what they earn
Take a normal Saturday wedding: 120 guests, three hours, about 100 AI photos across the night. With AI Photobooth one credit is one AI photo on Live Edit, Face Swap and Style Transfer, so 100 photos is 100 credits.
- On the Pro subscription, those 100 credits come out of the 300 included every month. Extra cost for the event: nothing.
- Past the 300, credit packs cost 0.33 EUR per credit for subscribers. 100 photos is 33 EUR, about 61 NZD.
Operators who offer AI photos sell them as an add-on on top of the standard package. A 200 to 350 NZD add-on for a three-hour booking is a common range. Against about 61 NZD in credits at the pack rate, the add-on keeps 139 to 289 NZD per event. Four weddings a month at that rate pay the subscription several times over, and the base hire price has not moved.
There is no per-event fee and no watermark on the photos.
What the software costs in NZD terms
AI Photobooth is built in Lithuania, in the EU. Prices are in EUR. Your card converts to NZD at your bank’s rate on the day.

For an NZ operator the sums are short. One Pro month costs about the same as one budget two-hour hire. One 725 NZD booking covers the month’s software with about 540 NZD left, before the AI add-on is even invoiced. If you only run a few events a year, the one-off Starter at 19 EUR gets AI photos onto the booth without a subscription.
GST and invoicing
AI Photobooth is an EU supplier. A business outside the EU is not charged VAT, so an NZ company pays the EUR price on the invoice and nothing on top. Keep the invoice for your accountant as an imported software service.
Your own invoicing does not change. If you are GST-registered, you add 15% GST to your hire and AI add-on invoices as usual. The software is an expense in EUR, the add-on is revenue in NZD, and the difference is yours. Ask your accountant how to book the imported service; the treatment differs if your business also makes exempt supplies.
Hardware you already own
The software runs on what most NZ operators already have.
- Windows: the Windows app works with webcams, Canon and Nikon cameras, and DNP and HiTi printers. A booth with a Windows PC inside keeps its camera and its printer.
- Android tablet: “AI Photobooth Pro” on Google Play turns a tablet into a booth, for a lighter setup or a second station at a corporate job.
- iPad: the iPad app is in review.
There is no proprietary kiosk to buy, so nothing to freight from overseas. Your enclosure, lighting and print media stay in service.
Internet at New Zealand venues
AI photos are generated in the cloud, so the booth needs internet. A 4G hotspot is enough. The problem in New Zealand is rural weddings: vineyards in Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay, farm venues in the Waikato, lodges in Central Otago. Coverage is good near towns and patchy behind hills.
- Test the hotspot at the exact booth position on the site visit, not in the car park.
- Carry a second SIM on a different network.
- If the venue offers Wi-Fi, get the password in writing and still bring the hotspot.
