Photo Booth Software in Australia (2026): What Operators Charge, What the Software Costs
Hire prices below come from Australian rental sites (adeptphotobooths.com.au, pixelbooth.com.au, gbevents.com.au and Bark AU listings), checked in September 2026. AI Photobooth prices are our own, from our pricing page on the same date.
A photo booth hire in Australia is sold by the hour. Three hours is the standard package in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, and the price moves with the enclosure, the props and the attendant, not with the photos. That is the problem. Every operator in your city sells the same three-hour package in the same price band, so the client shops on price and the cheapest quote wins.
AI photos change what is on the quote. The guest steps in front of the same camera, in the same booth, and leaves as a 1920s film star, an astronaut or a character in the client’s brand colours. It is a new line item, and it costs cents per photo. This post puts numbers on it, in Australian dollars.
What operators charge in Australia
Across the sites we checked, a photo booth hire runs from 400 AUD to 1,000 AUD and more per event. The ranges below are typical, with Sydney at the top of each one.
| Package | Duration | Typical price (AUD) |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | 2 hours | 400 to 600 |
| Standard | 3 hours | 550 to 800 |
| Premium | 4 hours | 750 to 1,100 |
| Open-air booth | per event | 440 to 790 |
| Enclosed booth | per event | 600 to 1,000 |
| 360 booth | per event | 850 to 1,050 |
The three-hour package sits in a 250 AUD band, and the only way up the table today is hardware. An enclosed booth or a 360 platform costs more to buy, transport and staff, so the extra 200 to 400 AUD per hire is mostly eaten by the gear.
What an AI add-on adds per event
Here is the arithmetic on a standard hire. A busy three-hour event produces around 100 AI photos when guests get one each. On AI Photobooth, one credit is one AI photo, and subscribers buy credits at 0.33 EUR each. So 100 AI photos cost 33 EUR, about 55 AUD at the rate used in this post (1 EUR is about 1.65 AUD).
Operators who offer the add-on sell it as an “AI experience” for 150 to 300 AUD on top of the hire. Take the middle of the standard package, 675 AUD, and add the AI line:
- Add-on sold at 150 AUD, credits about 55 AUD: 95 AUD extra margin, ticket up by 22 percent.
- Add-on sold at 300 AUD, credits about 55 AUD: 245 AUD extra margin, ticket up by 44 percent.
That is a 360-booth price with the camera, printer and enclosure you already have.
One thing to keep straight: the 0.33 EUR credit price is for subscribers, and the subscription already includes 300 credits a month. For many operators the first 300 AI photos in a month are paid for.
What the software costs in AUD terms
AI Photobooth is priced in euros. Your card converts the charge to AUD at your bank’s rate, so treat every AUD figure below as approximate.
- Pro subscription: 99 EUR a month, about 165 AUD, with 300 credits included. One credit is one AI photo on Live Edit, Face Swap and Style Transfer.
- Credit packs for subscribers: 0.33 EUR per credit, about 0.55 AUD per AI photo, once the 300 included credits are used.
- One-off Starter: 19 EUR, about 31 AUD, for 50 credits. No subscription. Good for a first paid event.
- No per-event fee. No watermark. The photo you deliver to the guest is the photo.
Worked example: three standard hires a month at about 100 AI photos each is 300 AI photos, inside the subscription, so the software costs about 165 AUD for the month. Sold at 150 to 300 AUD per event, the add-on brings in 450 to 900 AUD. Run five events and the extra 200 photos cost about 110 AUD in credits, against another 300 to 600 AUD in add-on sales.

GST and invoicing
AI Photobooth is made by a company in Lithuania, in the European Union. Prices on the site are in EUR and include VAT for consumers in the EU. An Australian business is outside the EU, so it pays the EUR price without VAT. Your invoice from us shows the net EUR amount, and your card statement shows the AUD your bank converted it to.
Your own invoicing does not change. You charge 10 percent GST on the hire and on the AI add-on, as you do today, and report it on your BAS as usual. Ask your accountant how an overseas software subscription sits in your books. That is standard for any imported software, not something specific to us.
Hardware you already own
You do not buy a new booth to add AI photos. The software runs on:
- A Windows laptop or mini PC, with a webcam, a Canon or a Nikon camera, and a DNP or HiTi printer for on-site prints.
- An Android tablet, with the “AI Photobooth Pro” app from Google Play.
- An iPad, once the App Store review is complete. The iPad app is in review at the time of writing.
The Windows app takes the photo, sends it for the AI transformation, and prints or delivers the result. Guests get their photo by QR code or email, and email capture, gallery, leaderboard and analytics come with the software. Enterprise accounts can white-label the guest screens with the agency’s own brand.
The AI features: photo styles from a text prompt, face swap, virtual try-on, product placement for sponsors, singing photos (Jingle), and real-time AI video. Pick the two or three that fit the client and leave the rest off the menu for that event.

Internet at Australian venues
The AI runs in the cloud, so the booth needs internet. Each photo goes up, and the AI photo comes back. A 4G hotspot is enough. You do not need the venue’s Wi-Fi, which is often locked, shared with 200 guests, or both.
Where it matters is regional: a winery in the Hunter Valley or Margaret River, a farm wedding in the Adelaide Hills, a function room in a basement. Check the mobile signal at the booth position before the day, and carry a hotspot on a second carrier if the venue is remote.
FAQ
Do I need new hardware to add AI photos to my booth?
No. A Windows laptop or an Android tablet is enough, and the Windows app works with the Canon and Nikon cameras and the DNP and HiTi printers already in most Australian booths. The iPad app is in review.
How much does one AI photo cost in Australian dollars?
About 0.55 AUD for subscribers (0.33 EUR per credit, one credit per AI photo), and the 99 EUR subscription already includes 300 photos a month. The one-off Starter is 19 EUR, about 31 AUD, for 50 photos. Your bank sets the exact conversion.
Is there VAT or GST on the subscription for an Australian business?
No VAT. An Australian business is outside the EU, so it pays the EUR price without VAT. GST on your own hire invoices stays at 10 percent as usual. Check with your accountant how to record the overseas subscription.
Does the booth work without internet?
No. The AI transformation runs in the cloud, so the booth needs a connection during the event. A 4G hotspot is enough, and it removes the dependency on venue Wi-Fi.
